After 15 plus years abroad, designer Ruth Mac Gowan returned to her Irish roots to found the Made in Ireland brand, Gonne Wilde.
The wanderlust for travel was instilled early on. Since 17 years of age, Mac Gowan’s travels started when she left her hometown to obtain a fashion degree in the UK. This led to a career in design for global heritage brands such as Ralph Lauren in New York, Faconnable in France, Hackett in London, Vedoneire in Ireland. Images from her work in these companies can be seen in the Portfolio section.
Now based in London, the timing is right for her international approach to design & marketing.

History is a favoured subject of Mac Gowans and Gonne Wilde draws inspiration from 1930’s Ireland along with the early Hollywood era. The romantic heroes & heroines of Irelands literary set, sporting weekends in the countryside, inspire the silk covered notebooks. The heroes & heroines of our black and white movie screens inspire the old world values of Gonne Wilde. See more in the Blog and Facebook section for a wealth of exciting content.
Gonne Wilde began with a sourcing trip around Ireland. The route was mapped out, based on favoured manufacturers with more than a few surprises along the way.
Gonne Wilde Designs is now a consulting service, which can cover an array of multi product product design from fashion clothing to lifestyle home products.
